Logo Final Project

For my final logo I took the feedback given to me by my instructor and peers to create the title “Bland” for the brand I am representing. I created this word because my last name is “Borland” and I wanted my logo to be connected to me in some type of way. I want my brand to represent a clothing company since I am an AMDT major and I think this could work really well as a brand name.

As I was doing research for brand names and logo designs many of my favorite company’s keep their name simple and catchy which is why I think the word “Bland” works so well. Also, as I was researching, I realized that logos have no restriction’s when it comes to the design. The logo’s I ended up liking the most were the artistic yet simplistic ones, and since my brand is trying to represent a fashion company, I think the aesthetic of the logo is the most important aspect of my design process.

For my design process I created a font I thought was edgy and artistic since I’m doing a clothing brand as opposed to informational. I think doing a more creative logo works better for my brand since it’s on the artistic side. Originally in my draft, I copied the image of my sketch to use it as a guideline for my logo. I then used the art brush in illustrator to draw my font and it made all of my lines smooth and nice. I also used the art brush to fill in the letters to draw more attention and add depth. I then made straight lines using the pen tool to create a stitching effect on my logo. Depending on the letter I would change the direction and size of my lines to fit best with each specific letter. The only technical challenge I faced was originally how to create the font, but once I figured out the brush tool it was smooth sailing. For the final draft design, I wanted to add color and fix the “b” to be more legible and curved. To create the red filling in the letters I used the ellipse tool and filled in the black parts with the red fill and stroke. After that I went back in with the black paintbrush to clean all the red edges and look professional and neat.

Although my logo is simple, I think the overall look still captures attention because of the detailing. I like that my logo has a connection to my name and represents me in a sense. I’m overall really happy with my final logo design and how it turned out.
