For my final Audio Story I chose to interview my roommate and friend, Hannah, who moved here from the UK for college and is in my major. Hannah is one of so many students who originates from another country and has shifted their life to come to school here and I chose her as my topic because moving at eighteen from a different country is an extreme culture change as well as environment adjustment. In the interview I asked her how her life here compares to her life in the United Kingdom. I asked her this question because they are such different cultures under different government systems, so each environment is incredibly different. The second question I asked was her favorite food and snacks from the UK because through living with her I noticed how different her food and even condiment selections were.
This audio story unit I found more challenging because for the interview type style it’s difficult to create a storyline with only one to two minutes of content. For my interview draft I was only able to fit in two questions worth of content, which is why I tried to choose questions that would be interesting to a listener. With only being able to fit in a minute and a half of content I’m still happy with the topic I chose because I find the concept of learning of other cultures and environments really interesting. Going from the draft to the final I wanted to touch up all my audio to make it as clean and polished as possible since it is the main focus of this project. I also used my knowledge from the tutorials to add music I thought would draw the audience in. The tutorials helped me to fade the music in and out and make it quiet during the interview portion. The tutorials also helped me in clipping and moving my audio to adjust everything to be in the order that I was intending. Overall, I’m happy with how my final audio story came together!
